Start with the elbows
OSHA's workstation guide: your elbows should be about the same height as the keyboard and hang comfortably at your sides, with shoulders relaxed. Wrists should be straight and in line with your forearms.
Leave room for your legs
Clearance under the desktop should generally be 20 to 28 inches (50 to 72 cm) high, and that space should stay free of files, computers and storage so you can change posture often. OSHA recommends height-adjustable desks to reach that range.
If the desk is fixed
A keyboard tray helps when the desk or chair cannot be set right, as long as it adjusts in height and tilt and has room for the mouse too.
Our under-desk tray has a 25 x 9.8 inch surface with a built-in wrist rest. It adjusts in height by up to 7.5 inches, swivels 180°, tilts 38° and slides back under the desk when you are done.
To stand for part of the day
A desk converter sits on top of the desk you have. Ours rises from 4.3 to 19.8 inches, carries up to 30 lbs on a 31.5 x 15.7 inch top, and has a wide keyboard tray below the screen surface.
Standing or sitting, run the same check: elbows level with the keyboard and wrists straight.
Keep the leg space clear
Storage under the desk eats leg room. Our pull-out drawer has a 3 inch profile and mounts under the desktop, with cable holes at the back for devices that charge inside.
