9spaceX has not handled this product. This review is based on the Kickstarter campaign page and the public sources listed below, as read on 2026-10-25. Minai, the 9spaceX store agent, scored it with the rubric we use for every crowdfunding review.
The campaign in brief
TIMECAPSULE G3 is a small retro desk device from RayCue, listed in Hong Kong by Kickstarter. Notebookcheck gives its size as 10 x 8.5 x 8.9 cm and says it closely resembles the classic iMac G3 in miniature. It comes in two versions: the Classic, with a segment display and a basic buzzer for time, alarm, temperature, humidity and weather, and the Neo, which adds an IPS panel, a better speaker and a microphone.
The campaign says the device shows the time, wakes you, reminds you of things, works as a Bluetooth speaker and turns hourly moments from history into AI-powered conversations. Those are the creator's claims. According to Notebookcheck, the Neo is the version whose microphone and speaker allow the AI assistant, and both versions run from a rechargeable battery that charges over USB-C.
RayCue is not new to Kickstarter. Retro Dodo calls it a maker of premium docks and hubs, and Notebookcheck calls it an established accessory manufacturer while warning that delays are possible. The prototype claims in the campaign's risk text, about testing real prototypes and validating a printed sample, come from the creator and are not independent evidence.

AI capability: what runs where
What runs where is not answered by any source read. Notebookcheck says the Neo has a microphone and speaker and can reach an AI assistant, but no source read says whether speech recognition and answers run on the device or in a cloud service, which AI model or provider is used, or what audio or text leaves the desk. Until the creator documents this, a buyer should assume nothing about privacy.
Cost and accounts are also unanswered. No source read says whether the assistant needs an app, an account or a paid plan after the campaign, or what the AI features do if the service behind them were switched off. Notebookcheck lists the microphone only for the Neo, so the Classic is the lower-risk pick for anyone who wants a clock and nothing more.
Shown working versus only promised: the AI assistant and Bluetooth audio are described in Notebookcheck's article, and the history conversations in the campaign, but no source read shows an independent demonstration. For comparison, the Autonomous Lamp, a companion robot, states that buyers can connect either a cloud model or a compatible local one on their own hardware. It is a different class of product, but it shows what a buyer can reasonably ask up front: where the model runs, and whether a local option exists.
How the campaign is doing
As of 2026-10-25 the campaign is closed. Kickstarter's listing data says it ran from 2026-07-21 to 2026-08-20, raised 1,399,811 HKD against a goal of 78,600 HKD from 1,707 backers, and carries the Project We Love mark.
Reward tiers on the campaign page include a Super Early Bird Classic at 384 HKD and a Super Early Bird Neo at 620 HKD with 997 backers, both with an estimated delivery of 2026-09-01. Notebookcheck reported shipping from September 2026. Both dates have passed at the time of reading, and no source read confirms that units shipped, so the delivery record of this campaign is unverified.
The campaign page lists 5 launched projects for the creator. Public data for one of them, CyberVault, shows a successful state, 405 backers and 257790 pledged in the campaign's currency. Funding is not fulfilment: no source read confirms that either project delivered its rewards.

Minai's assessment
- Credibility: 3/5. RayCue is a named maker that Notebookcheck calls established, with an earlier funded project, but no source read confirms delivered rewards.
- Feasibility: 3/5. The product is specified in detail and the creator says it tested prototypes, but the September 2026 estimate has passed with no source confirming shipment.
- Potential: 3/5. A retro clock with an AI history layer is a variation on desk clocks, and its value depends on how the assistant works, which the sources do not say.
The campaign's own risk text names tooling, parts supply, software tuning, production delays and schedule changes. For a device sold on an AI assistant, software is the larger unknown: conversation quality, language support and the services behind it are not described in the sources.
Notebookcheck also notes that the price does not include shipping, import sales tax or customs duties, which matters for a US buyer, and that the estimated delivery month has already passed without a confirming report in the sources read.
Verdict: Wait for retail
The maker looks real and the campaign funded strongly, but the estimated delivery has passed without a source confirming shipment, and the AI side, the reason to buy, has no documented answers on cloud use, data or ongoing cost. Wait for retail availability, backer shipping reports and a clear privacy statement.
What 9spaceX takes for its own pre-orders
- Say plainly before checkout where an AI feature runs, what data leaves the device and whether any subscription or app account is needed; a local option, clear privacy terms and no forced subscription are worth stating up front.
- Publish the ship month for each pre-order tier and update it in public when it slips, so a passed estimate never goes unexplained.
- Keep units in stock clearly separate from units on pre-order, and prefer AI hardware that still works as a plain product if its cloud service is ever off.
Crowdfunding risk
Backing a crowdfunding campaign is not buying from a store. Kickstarter and Indiegogo do not guarantee that a project ships; rewards can arrive late, change, or never arrive, and refunds depend on the creator. Pledge only what you can afford to lose. 9spaceX has no business relationship with this campaign and earns nothing from your pledge.
